Introduction www.ti.com 1 Introduction Thisuser'sguidecontainsbackgroundinformationfortheTPS54061aswellassupportdocumentationfor theTPS54061EVM-142evaluationmodule(PWR142).Alsoincludedaretheperformancespecifications, theschematic,andthebillofmaterialsfortheTPS54061EVM-142. 1.1 Background TheTPS54061dc/dcconverterisdesignedtoprovideuptoa0.2Aoutputfromaninputvoltagesourceof 4.7Vto60V.RatedinputvoltageandoutputcurrentrangefortheevaluationmodulearegiveninTable1. Thisevaluationmoduleisdesignedtodemonstratethesmall,printed-circuit-boardareasthatmaybe achievedwhendesigningwiththeTPS54061regulator.Theswitchingfrequencyisexternallysetata nominal400kHz.Thehigh-sideandlow-sideMOSFETsareincorporatedinsidetheTPS54061package alongwiththegatedrivecircuitry.Thecompensationcomponentsareexternaltotheintegratedcircuit (IC),andanexternaldividerallowsforanadjustableoutputvoltage.Additionally,theTPS54061provides undervoltagelockoutinputs.Theabsolutemaximuminputvoltageis60VfortheTPS54061EVM-142. ThetoplayercontainsthemainpowertracesforV ,V ,andVPHASE.Alsoonthetoplayerare IN OUT connectionsfortheremainingpinsoftheTPS54061andalargeareafilledwithground.Thebottomlayer containsgroundandasignalroutefortheBOOTcapacitor.Thetopandbottomandinternalgroundtraces areconnectedwithmultipleviasplacedaroundtheboardincludingfourviasdirectlyundertheTPS54061 devicetoprovideathermalpathfromthetop-sidegroundplanetothebottom-sidegroundplane.
